I'm Kelly M., the breeder behind Karma Performance located in Prospect, OH. I produce pups that have the ability to excel in their chosen field, whether that be working, or as an active companion. I am purposeful in everything that I do regarding my dogs, which includes careful selection of breeding dogs and extensive health testing. My goal is to produce healthy dogs with great temperaments that are exemplary representations of the breed.
Q. & A. with Kelly
Why did you start breeding?
I've worked in the dog industry since 1980. I was introduced to the world of breeding and showing when I went to work for a GSD conformation handler. That eventually led me to performance and reading my own line of performance gsds. Hurting eventually took me to border collies and now I have my own line of performance Border Collies.
What makes your program special?
I am not a commercial breeder in any way. I breed when I want a dog of my own. I bring not for money but to make my bloodline of dogs One step better. To get that next generation. What I want in a puppy as a dog I can live with and work with. My dogs are my house dogs. I have no kennels. My dogs must be able to go anywhere I go. I need a dog with flexibility of mind and a happy outgoing temperament. I need them to be healthy because I want them to live a long time. I need them to be talented and brainy because I compete in multiple venues. I give a 5-year health guarantee because I believe in my dogs

About Dottie
Dottie is everything you can ask for in a dog. She's my beloved companion who goes everywhere with me and she is a superlative working partner. She's earned 27 titles, 12 high in trials and two herding championships and is working on two more championships. She is that dog that is up for anything you want to do whether that's going out and working stock learning a new sport or sitting watching television
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Karma Performance reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Border Collies.

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
