Meet the breeder

I'm Dakotah H., the breeder behind Kotah’s Kennels located in Huntsville, AL. Kotah’s Kennels is an AKC Australian Shepherd, German Shepherds, &Aussiedoodle kennel dedicated to my beloved dogs. From my loving home to yours! My Aussies and Doodles are a part of my family, as are their pups. I health test my dogs as well as focus on temperaments. I'm trying to better the breed both for show and pets. My puppies experience socialization with many types of animals on my small farm. I hope you can find your next best friend here!

Q. & A. with Dakotah

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have several family members that are involved in breeding other breeds (blue heelers, boxers, and bullies) and I noticed how beautiful Australian Shepherds were. I bought my first pair and haven't looked back since! I've put a lot of research in along the way and have started doing genetic testing and improving my practices. I continue to educate myself to do my part to better the breed itself.
  • What makes your program special?

I spend a lot of time with our dogs! Some of them help me with my livestock, they aren’t even trained, it’s just in their blood. I try to create the best puppies possible with the help of genetic testing so I can be sure I'm offering my customers health and beloved companions. We do offer discounts to first responders, cancer patients or survivors, and to those who have or are serving.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Aussiedoodle puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Australian Shepherd puppies include red merle and blue merle. Aussiedoodle puppies include black tri-color and red phantom. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
