I'm Kathleen R., the breeder behind Krystal Rhodesian Ridgebacks located in Moriarty, NM. We strive to produce the best family companion. The Ridgeback is a very special dog and we are working at keeping the breed healthy and happy. As breeders, we are a tight-knit group and always look out for each other and our dogs. Why did you start breeding?
We’ve had Ridgebacks since 1984. In 1994, we got our first show dog but he really didn’t show until later. We then got a girl in 1998. She loved showing! After she finished her championship we were mentored and we bred her.What makes your program special?
We do a lot of research about who we breed and who we breed to. Our dogs all have their health clearances before they are bred. The puppies are whelped and raised in our home. While with us they get neurostimulation, socialization, and lots of exposure to different objects and situations.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
