I'm Tracie P., the breeder behind Lakes 'N Fields Retrievers located in Delano, MN. Quality Bred Hunting and Companion Retrievers. Our dogs are selected for breeding by their health clearances and temperament. Our goal is to teach our clients to build the bond of trust so strong that their dog lives for attention and affirmation. The more trust the more confidence they develop.
Q. & A. with Tracie
Why did you start breeding?
It was a natural progression for me who has always loved animals, especially dogs, after retiring from helping humans welcome their newborns as a midwife.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs are encouraged to be all business in the field, and chill in the house, on leash, and in public. Our girls have their Canine Good Citizen titles and passing runs at hunt test. Duck, pheasant and grouse are the game birds we train for.
My husband's ability to spot the lineages in the pedigrees and my attention to care, feeding, and recordkeeping as a certified vet tech help us reach our goals.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Chesapeake Bay Retriever puppies are brown. Golden Retriever puppies include dark golden and golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
