Meet the breeder

I'm Rick P., the breeder behind Lakewood European Dobermann Kennel located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Lakewood Dobermann Kennel is a family-run, AKC-registered breeder dedicated to preserving the true European Dobermann. We focus on health, structure, temperament, and courage—breeding ethically tested dogs that embody balance, excellence, and the authentic spirit of the breed.

Q. & A. with Rick

  • Why did you start breeding?

My name is Rick Pezzino, and together with my father, Tony, we are focused on producing superior quality European Doberman Pinschers. I am a certified canine reproduction specialist with more than 30 years of hands-on experience in training, breeding, and competing with multiple breeds. My father, Tony, has more than 50 years of experience with dogs, in all aspects.
  • What makes your program special?

We proudly protect the Dobermann’s legacy without compromise—breeding only to AKC and FCI standards. Our focus is on health, structure, and temperament, not oversized or non-standard colors. Every pairing is carefully planned and vet-supervised, with full OFA/FCI testing. Puppies are raised in-home with 24/7 care, ENS, and socialization for balanced, confident temperaments.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and rust and red and rust. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
