Meet the breeder

I'm Karla T., the breeder behind Lavender Valley Goldens located in Anamosa, IA. Our mission is to raise healthy, happy puppies, connect loving families with their new best friend! We have developed protocols to ensure healthy and safe breeding practices per OFA and AKC standards and genetic tests for our Goldens.

Q. & A. with Karla

  • Why did you start breeding?

I had bred our first golden retriever years ago when our kids were still at home, I loved it! After my kids were raised, I wanted to pursue my dream to breed again, only I educated myself more on what I needed to do to breed healthy puppies and to better the breed. I am excited and look forward to meeting people that love the golden retriever and poodle breed as much as I do!
  • What makes your program special?

My dogs are well socialized. We have 5 adult children, their spouses, and 8 grandchildren. Our dogs spend time inside our home and in the kennel. They are raised on a large acreage. I make sure my dogs go through health clearances. The health and well-being for a dog is important. I do not crossbreed my golden retrievers and poodles due to maintaining the integrity and health of both breeds.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include dark golden and golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
