Meet the breeder

I'm Daniella H., the breeder behind Legacy Water Australian Shepherds located in Pattison, TX. Our dogs come from service dog lines, and are thoughtfully bred for their temperament and exceptional connection with their people. They are unusually low-drive for the breed. With their sweet and loving dispositions, they form meaningful bonds that go far beyond companionship.

Q. & A. with Daniella

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our breeding program started with my soul dog Sailor. After experiencing her exceptional and unique temperament, intelligence, and deep connections she made, I decided to preserve those qualities in future generations. What began as love for Australian Shepherds grew into Legacy Water, a small family centered program dedicated to providing special companions for a chapter in your life.
  • What makes your program special?

Our program is special for producing unusually low drive Aussies with a sweet disposition. Our small standards really hit a sweet spot in sizing, typically ranging from 40-50lbs. This is ideal for riding shot gone for everyday car rides, or joining on family vacations. Wherever you are, they want to be. Puppies are raised in house with daily family style interactions and fed high quality food.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle, yellow, and black tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

“Puppies are placed thoughtfully with families whose lifestyles, expectations, and commitment align with the needs of the individual dog. We take the time to learn about each family and match puppies based on the type of homes we feel they will thrive in. It is very important to us that each puppy quickly becomes a true member of the family. Not just a pet, but a lifelong companion who receives time, devotion, patience, and love. Australian Shepherds thrive on human connections, and often bond deeply with their people on a level that's difficult to understand until you have experienced it yourself. These animals are highly emotional and intelligent. Bringing home one of our puppies is a lifelong commitment. We expect our dogs to remain part of the family through life changes, challenges, and transitions. They should never be viewed as expendable or easy to give up on when circumstances become inconvenient. If you are not prepared to make this kind of commitment, we respectfully ask that you reconsider your interest in our puppies, and any other animals. ”
