I'm Catherine V., the breeder behind Lexa Dobermans located in Smithfield, VA. I believe in the total package when it comes to breeding quality Dobermans. Correct conformation, stable, smart, loyal, loving family members that can do it all - compete in dog sports & above all, be loving family members. I do NOT breed nor condone the breeding of white/albino Dobermans!
Q. & A. with Catherine
Why did you start breeding?
I've owned and trained dogs all my life. After moving to a large property, I wanted a canine companion that would instinctively know "if you see something, say something" but, be sane about it. This dog needed to easily fit into my lifestyle of family, friends, and travel. Dobermans are just that! I was blessed to acquire a stellar Dobe and then decided to do all I could to preserve this breed.
What makes your program special?
I believe Doberman Pinschers should be breed for the entire dog, not just beauty, and according to the AKC standard set by the Doberman Pinscher Club of America (www.dpca.org). Sound temperament of the breed, documented health testing, proven quality of structure and obedience are the cornerstone for my breeding program. I also believe in breeding for sociability and longevity are VERY important.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
