I'm Erica G., the breeder behind Liberty Collies located in Gleason, TN. We breed to preserve the unique characteristics of the Collie while considering a variety of traits, including health, conformation, and temperament. We emphasize the proper socialization and training of our puppies, and we strive to promote responsible dog ownership.
Q. & A. with Erica
Why did you start breeding?
My family has owned collies since the 1950's. Growing up, my parents raised collies. After I graduated from UT with my degree in Animal Science Production and Management, I started my own branch of the "family collie business" by building a kennel and focusing on raising the best collies possible!
What makes your program special?
I am the middle of the line Breeder and quite controversial. I do not breed for show or strictly farm pets. I breed for the perfect family dog with a balance of health, conformation, temperament, and brains! I genetically test every dog before it's ever brought to our program to ensure I produce no CEA (Collie Eye Anomaly) affected dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in a kennel on my property.

Erica takes very good care of her collies! I felt comfortable with her immediately & am so grateful she found us the perfect sibling pair. Belle & Beau are inseparable & beautiful. I would recommend her to everyone; my parents even plan to get a collie from her soon.

We are absolutely in love with our Liberty Collies. Erica is such a blessing. Not only is she an experienced breeder, she is always there to answer questions and give advice. She truly loves each and everyone of her Collies and it shows. She is great at keeping you updated with videos of litters, her Collies and just day to day breeder life. We fell so much in love with our boy (2years) that we decided recently to get him a sister. An added bonus to getting a Liberty Collie is that you become part of the Liberty Collie Family. I’ve gotten to know so many nice people who I now call my friends. It is so much fun keeping up with our pups siblings.

Erica from Liberty Collies is the best breeder and collie expert. I wouldn’t buy a collie from anyone other than her. Her adult collies(the puppy parents) are loved, very well-taken care of, and absolutely beautiful. The puppies that she breeds are very well-cared for, loved, well-socialized, and DNA tested before they go home. I can’t wait to purchase my next collie from Liberty Collies.

My husband and I purchased a collie pup from Liberty Collies. Erica was wonderful to work with. She posts lovely videos of her dogs and pups. I saw the puppy I wanted but couldn’t pick him up in a timely manner. We live in Pennsylvania so I asked Erica if she would hold him for us until we could pick him up. I wanted to be with him on the ride home so we didn’t hire transport. Erica was so kind about our situation. She happily held him for us. I love watching her videos so I wasn’t surprised to find a clean well kept kennel and several happy healthy collies. She was eager to introduce us to both of Jet’s parents and her other collies. We even got to hold a 4 week old puppy! He was adorable! Erica is a very transparent breeder. She is very informative and knowledgeable. Jet was already housebroken when he came home. We don’t have a doggy door but he quickly learned how to ring a bell to tell us when he had to go outside. We enjoyed working with Erica. She is a responsible breeder and loves her collies. Her puppies are very social. Jet gets along well with our 2 year old collie and our 13 year old German Shepherd. He also makes friends easily with children and adults. We don’t have any issues bringing him on walks at a local park. He walks well on a leash and we haven’t started obedience school yet! I think Erica had something to do with this 😉. I can’t give Erica enough kudos! Jet is our 5th collie so we have experienced a few breeders. 😁 Thank you for our beautiful puppy Erica! ❤️ We know where we will find our next collie.

I am so thankful for Liberty Collies and Erica, the owner, for providing me with my sweet, sassy baby Collie girl!
Liberty Collies truly get the best of both nature and nurture! Erica carefully plans all of her litters to ensure that by nature, all puppies are healthy, happy, smart, playful, loving, and beautiful family dogs - everything that Collies should be! The puppies are also nurtured in an incredibly loving environment with lots of opportunities to socialize with Erica’s adult Collies and family. My baby girl has been confident and well-adjusted from the very first day she cam home!
Erica’s love for all Collies, especially her puppies, comes through so clearly in the photos and videos that she shares on Facebook - which are really helpful to view as a prospective parent because they help you to get to know your puppy before you bring him or her home! Erica is also incredibly responsive to questions and provides tons of helpful information. As another Liberty Collie parent and reviewer said, there is just no better person out there who is breeding and raising Collies! Without a doubt, all of my future Collies will be Liberty Collies!
