I'm Tessa C., the breeder behind Light of Day Kennels located in New Port Richey, FL. Welcome to Light of Day Kennels. We breed gorgeous, conformationally correct standard poodles with a focus on producing service dog prospects. We health test before breeding; OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Thyroid, Embark DNA. Puppies raised on Puppy Culture, ENS, and ESI. All pups are Volhard Tested.

Why did you start breeding?
I started off as just a dog trainer when I fell in love with Standard Poodle. They are so trainable, intelligent, and loving that I had to get my own. From there I found a mentor to learn all I could about breeding dogs the ethical way.What makes your program special?
My breeding program focuses largely on temperament. After health, it is the most important aspect in breeding in my opinion. Every dog in my program is temperament tested prior to breeding and all puppies are raised on Puppy Culture, ENS and ESI. Before being placed with anyone all puppies are Volhard Tested to ensure that my puppies will be going to the right home.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Day is a female Poodle. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Tessa decided to make her part of their program. Tessa has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Generalized, GM2 Gangliosidosis, Poodle Type, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Osteochondrodysplasia, Miniature Poodle Type, Neonatal Encephalopathy with Seizures (NEwS), von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
