I'm Lisa S., the breeder behind Lisa Schmidt located in Chico, CA. We offer quality bred dogs from champion lines. We hand raise each of our puppies and guarantee healthy, well-rounded pups. I put a lot of my focus towards health testing prior to breeding to ensure that I am making positive contributions to my lines. Each puppy is cherished from the moment of birth and given the best start we can possibly provide.   • Why did you start breeding?

    Responsible, ethical breeders play an important role in the future of the dog ecosystem. We are guardians for the future of the breed. Our goal is to breed quality Australian Shepherd dogs and preserve the line of these incredible companions as well as continue on with my champion lines.

  • What makes your program special?

    We only breed from champion lines, and the dogs have to be champions first. All of my dogs are health tested and have wonderful temperaments. My involvement in the show world speaks to the standards that I breed my dogs by. I deeply cherish each dog and puppy under my care and will always prioritize their well-being above all else.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Lisa

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $1,900 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“This price includes the health guarantee, AKC & ASCA registration. First round of vaccinations & deworming. and lots of puppy socialization! All puppies are the same price regardless of color, sex or eye color. Deposits will only be accepted after completing my screening interview and we are both in agreement that my puppies are a good fit you.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1), Hereditary (Juvenile) Cataracts (HC; JC), Australian Shepherd Type, GenSol Diagnostics DNA Testing, Cone Degeneration, Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
