Meet the breeder

I'm Niki M., the breeder behind Little Acres Miniature Dachshunds located in Lily, KY. All of our dogs are bred, raised, and loved indoors to produce happy, healthy pets for those seeking the best family companion! Each of our dogs has brought so much happiness to us throughout their lives. We want to do our part to produce wonderful, healthy dogs that can bring other people joy as well, and we strive to provide each of our puppies with loving homes where they can live happy lives.

Q. & A. with Niki

  • Why did you start breeding?

Around 15 years ago, after owning dachshunds, we decided as a family to have a few litters. We really enjoyed the experience and all of the knowledge and education it has taught us. After a few litters we decided to take a break with family, life & careers taking up most of our time. My mother is getting close to her retirement age and has a lot more time on her hands. So, in 2020 we decided to start back.
  • What makes your program special?

We health test every parent (sire/dam) to ensure healthy puppies, via Embark. We also raise all of our babies inside our home as well as the parents. They are loved on daily and watched for around the clock.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, piebald, cream, red, fawn (isabella) and tan, chocolate and cream, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Niki was awesome with communication and helping us through the puppy process. Cooper and Milo are doing wonderful. Potty training has been excellent so far. They both are a ball of fun.

Fritzy (AKA Tornado) is doing great. She is learning new things fast. She is sleeping through the night in her sleeping pen with Sammie. She is using her Pee Pee Palace daily. We are working on the biting now. We have learned to nap when she naps and are holding up well. She is eating wet food (hers and her sisters.) She is learning her new environment and I caught her half way up stairs I didn’t know she could climb (bring in the stair guard.) She knows her name and her favorite toy are my slippers (video.) Thanks for the beautiful, loving tornado.
