I'm Kelli R., the breeder behind Lone Pine Miniature American Shepherds located in Kalama, WA. I focus on breeding dogs with exceptional temperaments, intelligence, and versatility. My dogs excel in conformation, performance events, and companionship while also being beautiful. Each one is fully health tested to ensure a strong foundation for a happy, healthy life.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    For several years we owned a saddle shop, where I had the opportunity to meet incredible people who introduced me to the world of breeding and showing dogs. With a lifetime of experience raising, training, and showing horses, the transition came naturally. In 2011, we moved to Washington and established a dog boarding business. We offer daycare, boarding, grooming, also raising a few litters.

  • What makes your program special?

    I prioritize exceptional temperaments in my dogs, seeking versatility in every aspect. I want intelligent, problem-solving dogs that excel in herding, performance events, and companionship—all while being visually striking. My dogs embody all of these qualities and more. Every dog in my program is fully health tested to ensure the best foundation for a long, healthy life.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include red & white, red tri-color, black & white, black tri, red merle, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Kelli partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“Puppy Matching Policy – Lone Pine Miniature American Shepherd We are committed to ethical breeding and responsible placement. Our goal is to match each healthy, well-socialized puppy with a family where it will be a cherished lifetime companion. How Matching Works: Applicants submit a detailed application through Good Dog (and any supplemental questions we provide) covering lifestyle, home environment, experience, and expectations. We review applications and conduct consultations to understand your needs. Puppies are observed closely from birth through temperament evaluation around 6-8 weeks. We then match based on the puppy's personality and your family's dynamics—not buyer choice or strict order. Flexibility with preferences (gender, color) helps ensure a quicker, better fit. Approved Homes Must: Provide a safe, loving indoor environment with appropriate space and supervision. Commit to positive training, regular exercise, and veterinary care. Agree to spay/neuter pet-quality puppies by [age, e.g., 6-12 months]. Contact us first if rehoming is ever needed. Understand this breed's needs (e.g., training, mental stimulation, socialization). We reserve the right to select the best match for each puppy and may decline applications that do not align with our standards. Deposits secure a place on the waitlist but do not guarantee a specific puppy or litter. Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Which includes Puppy Starter kit of Owners Manual, well puppy check by my veterinarian, first shots, de wormed, microchip, AKC registration, leash, toy, treats, puppy food, both parents health tested. A deposit is required to hold your spot in order of puppy pick. It is non-refundable but can be transferred to another litter within a year.”

    We recently lost our dog unexpectedly. Shelby died quietly while we slept in one of her favorite places by our pond, she was 11 years young. We have had herding dogs for over 30 years. They’ve always done a wonderful job of keeping our kids, chickens, and other farm animals, safe from unwanted, visitors, (raccoons, etc) We decided to look and see if we could find a local dog/puppy (under 2 years) to join our family. I discovered Lone Pine Miniature Shepherds on Goog Dog. I filled out the application and we were matched with “Willow” a beautiful, smart, sweet 16 weeks old Miniature American Shepherd. We brought her home two days ago and we have never had an easier transition. Willow is already potty trained and crate trained. She walks on a leash, knows sit and come! We feel spoiled and blessed.
