I'm Stefanie S., the breeder behind Lonepine Newfoundlands located in Lonepine, MT. We are a small hobby breeder of Newfoundlands in NW Montana, and our focus is on health, temperament and early socialization. Parents are health tested, and we offer a 1 year health guarantee on all our puppies. Our puppies don’t go home until their hearts have been checked by a specialist at 10 weeks. We use a program called Puppy Culture to give each new puppy the best foundation possible. Our puppies are raised with extensive early socialization including daily handlings and interactions, introduction of a new sight, sound or smell every day, introduction to clicker training, crate training, anti-resource guarding, etc.
Q. & A. with Stefanie
Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding because I love Newfoundlands and wanted to share the temperament and sweetness of this amazing breed with other families. I am passionate about positive early socialization in puppies as it truly sets the foundation for a better dog. The proof is in the puppies I produce! I am always trying to further my own education about the breed and canine health and behavior in general. I have recently been working to turn my program's focus more in the therapy dog direction.
What makes your program special?

What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and brown. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Stefanie is an amazing breeder. She is very knowledgeable and took amazing care of the litter we chose our pup from. She’s invested in their socialization and upbringing before seeing them to their forever homes. She has been checking up on us since bringing our pup home and making sure all of our questions are answered. I recommend her if anyone is looking to add a pup to their home.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
