Meet the breeder

I'm Gwen R., the breeder behind Long Ears and Long Dogs Ranch located in Bigfork, MN. We focus on temperament and conformation first and color second. Our goal is to create dogs that will be partners for a lifetime. We strive for quality in everything that we do. We love spoiling and pampering our dogs, and hope that our puppies' new homes will love and cherish them just as much as we do!

Q. & A. with Gwen

  • Why did you start breeding?

I used to breed and raise Coonhounds, but I fell for Doxies and their little bodies with lion hearts! I also find Doxie color genetics fascinating and love to study them and see the possibilities in a breeding pair. I have loved the journey and I am a proud breeder with a focus on temperament and the overall mental and physical health of my puppies. I love placing happy, healthy puppies with loving families.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are our family members first and foremost. They live in our home and usually use us as their beds! I do everything I can to ensure my puppies have what they need to develop into healthy and happy dogs. We are very dedicated to what we do and what we are trying to achieve as breeders. We work with passion, heart, integrity, and truly want what's best for the Dachshund line.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include longhaired and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, red, black, chocolate, brindle, blue and tan, fawn (isabella) and tan, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Absolutely amazing!! My girlfriend and I were looking for a puppy and Gator caught our eye. So we messaged Gwen and she got back to us asap. She was amazing with communication and all the questions we asked her. When we got him he was super energetic and adapted very well to his new home. Gator loves his new home plus all the toys he got from family. His favorite things to do are playing with his mom, eating food, and napping. Can’t wait to see how big he gets, along with all the tricks he learns!!! Thank you Gwen for giving us our new puppy!!

I had a wonderful experience getting my mini dachshund puppy from Gwen through Good Dog. From the very beginning, it was clear how much Gwen truly cares about her dogs. She was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable—always ready to answer any questions I had, which made me feel confident and supported throughout the entire process. The Good Dog platform made everything smooth and straightforward, and Gwen's communication and care made it even better. You can tell she puts a lot of love and attention into raising her pups. Our sweet girl was originally named Dancer, but we renamed her Minnie—and she’s been adjusting beautifully! She’s cuddly, playful, and full of personality. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or a better puppy. I would absolutely recommend Gwen to anyone looking for a loving and reputable breeder.

Gwen was amazing to work with. She made sure from the start that all information was given and clear. Her expectations as well as ours. Her weekly updates and personal videos of our new baby were so amazing to get. We loved getting to watch our pup grow into her spots. We named her Nyx and she loves her new big sister Kitkat. I'm so beyond happy with the experience working with Gwen. My Mother is already thinking about working with Gwen in the future because of how amazing our experience was. Thank you so much Gwen and family!!! We are loving this little bean so much.
