I'm Erica C., the breeder behind Lucy’s Miniature Dachshunds located in Albertville, AL. Our dogs are bred for health and quality as well as beauty. I have dedicated myself to learning as much as I can and I’m doing everything possible to make sure our puppies have a long, happy and healthy life with their new owners.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Well I started to ask and read about it because I thought it would be really cool to be a part of. I enjoy them so much I thought I could be great at it.

  • What makes your program special?

    I would say what makes my program special is love. I know that sounds a bit corny but it’s the truth. These are not just breeding dogs to me. I really love them and they are a part of my family. I care about what happens to them and I care that they and their puppies are healthy and happy. Our pups are AKC registered, UTD on vaccines/dewormer, microchipped and seen by our veterinarian. They have been socialized and begun potty training. They have the best start to being the best pet!

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable, cream, red, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Erica

Erica has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 deposit and between $1,500 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Our puppies are priced based on coat and sex. The price includes application to register with AKC in your name, being UTD on vaccines/dewormer if needed, flea meds, being microchipped and had a wellness check by our vet. If you pay a deposit to hold a puppy and change your mind the deposit is not refundable although you can choose another available puppy instead.”

Erica may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

    We have a 3 year old dachshund named Peanut for whom we wanted to find a companion. We saw Snickers on the Good Dog site and contacted Erica immediately. She was very responsive and answered all of our questions either immediately or as soon as she could find the correct answer. All of her communication with us was timely and accurate. We met her half way between our home and hers for a "handoff" that was very easy and trouble free.     We recently purchased a beautiful chocolate and tan mini dachshund from Erica at Lucy's Miniature Dachshunds. She was helpful and communicative the whole way. Even after we brought the pup home Erica followed up to make sure things were going well and has still been responsive with our follow up questions. Moreover, the pup is in excellent health and exploding with more cuteness and personality than we could've imagined. It's obvious he was well cared for before we brought him home. He's super happy and chill, great with our kids, and it has been extremely easy to get him on a schedule. To top it off, we've been really impressed with how smart he is. So far, not a single potty accident (he can eliminate on command), and he learned how to sit, come, and keep pace walking with us in just three short 5-10 minute training sessions.     Erica has been the best breeder I have ever worked with in my entire life. She was responsive, answered all the questions that she could. I got Nugget from her and he is the most well behaved pup that I have seen. Erica does a great job with her pups and you can see that from the pups’ behavior how she has treated them like her babies. I would recommend anyone to Erica hands-down and would definitely vouch for her!
