I'm Valerie B., the breeder behind Luxe Cardigan Welsh Corgis located in Columbia, SC. Our first goal is to protect the natural beauty and function of this wonderful breed. Cardigans have been in existence in Wales for over 3,000 years. Each puppy is handled from birth and given a name to help them bond with their humans. We carefully select our breeding pairs for temperament and specific recessive genetic disorders. Temperament is the most important thing besides heath to me.
Q. & A. with Valerie
Why did you start breeding?
I wanted to learn how to show dogs and breed dogs. I began by raising puppies from my mentor by training them to show. I learned how to carefully choose the breeding pair based on several things (temperament, genetic issues, and to preserve the Corgi "type". It's fascinating.
What makes your program special?
My program is special because I got my start with Legacy Cardigans. Sharon Wilson is known for spectacular, sound dogs with great temperaments. She graciously let me learn from her.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and white, brindle and white, red and white, blue merle and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Attention!!! That’s what the tape is for. It helps the leather of the ears to firm up and stand up. Big ole ears and short little legs are two of the things that makes Cardigans unique.
Bella went to a great family in Georgia.Atticus ( big white blaze) will be going to Alabama. So glad to have fabulous homes.

Our experience working with Valerie was absolutely wonderful! She responded to my request for information immediately about the male puppy we were interested in, and I knew right away when we spoke that she was a caring and responsible breeder who absolutely loves the breed and takes impeccable care of her pups. We were fortunate that we were privileged to receive one of her amazing male puppies, who we named Bertie and is a gorgeous fluffy sable. Bertie has a beautiful easy disposition and has adapted effortlessly into our household. We have 3 other cardigans, 2 females and 1 male, all between the ages of 7 and 15. Our other male Ruben, who is 11, has taken little Bertie under his wing and the two are the best of friends. Bertie loves to do most everything his big brother does and it is so sweet to watch. Bertie has been with us only 3 weeks, but it seems like he has been with us forever. I look forward to many happy years with this sweet beautiful boy.

I really enjoyed working with Valerie. She is very good with communicating, I had a situation where I couldn’t pick up my puppy until a couple weeks after the send home date and she was very nice and professional about it and continued sending me updates and pictures of him the entire time. She was always ready to answer any questions I had and paired me with the most wonderful puppy I have ever seen. My sweet boy has the most amazing temperament, he’s about 8 months old now and has never gotten aggressive or ruined any of my things. All he can think about is food, attention/cuddles, and his personal toys lol. Everyone who has met him absolutely adores him. This guy is also the best on traveling, he’s never gotten sick in the car and we’ve road tripped to 4 different states already! I highly recommend Valerie and her puppies, I’m so happy that I got my corgi baby from her!

Valerie Boyce does a wonderful job of raising some really incredible pups. We picked up our Cardigan Welsh Pembroke Corgi on Nov 14 and he has been a wonderful easy addition to our family. His wonderful temperament speaks volumes about the love that raised him. The first vet visit was perfect spoke volumes about the careful breeding that got him to our home. 10 out of 10, I'd highly recommend her puppies.

Valerie was absolutely great to work with - super-responsive, very knowledgeable of the breed, and just an all-around great breeder who I’d recommend to anyone looking for a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. I was thrilled when she thought I’d be a good match for Cedric (formerly known as Wesley), and only two weeks in, he’s already proving himself to be a super-friendly, super-coachable king of his domain and all-around best friend. I can’t say enough good things about working with her through the process and about Cedric.

Valerie is a great breeder. I enjoyed working with her. She answered all my questions I had. She is very sweet and knowledgeable. I got Willow 1st then 2 years later got another Corgi Logan. Both of them have a great temperament and are super sweet. They both are so lovable and trained very easily. Both dogs are super smart. I would highly recommend Valerie’s dogs.

Luxe Welsh Cardigan Corgi did an amazing job raising and socializing my pup. Valerie was in close contact throughout, sending me pics of my pup’s growth and change. I was impressed with the detailed vet/vaccine records Luxe supplied. My local vet was also pleased with the comprehensive medical records and deemed my pup healthy, happy and sound. Since bringing my pup home I have a few follow up questions, valerie has been quick to respond with really good info.
