I'm Jessica S., the breeder behind Mabel Creek Farm located in Shelby, NC. We do extensive health testing, including PennHIP, OFA Hips, Elbows, and Eyes. A full DNA panel is done on each parent dog we have to ensure no puppy will go home with a disease that could have been prevented. We work tirelessly to condition our pups to be the most adaptable members of their household.
Q. & A. with Jessica
Why did you start breeding?
My passion has been for dog breeding since I was ten years old. I've done countless hours of research into the process of breeding, whelping, and raising puppies, with even more time spent studying the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. My goal has always been to make the next generation better than the last, to advance dogs as companions, and preserve the breed's unique history.
What makes your program special?
I do extensive health testing and have incredibly high standards for my dogs. I learn my dogs' personalities and characteristics inside and out so that I can be confident that they would be able to produce a top of the line puppy.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Mabel
Mabel is a strong example of a typical Corgi personality. She has sass and resilience, along with a great sense of humor. She loves to make people laugh and is always doing something silly. She cuddles in bed at night, but during the day she is ready to herd some sheep or chase a trash bunny! She is in training for therapy work, and is excelling in her class.
Excellent health testing
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I), +4 more.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Mabel Creek Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Pembroke Welsh Corgis.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
