I'm Janet B., the breeder behind Maclen Collies located in Loveland, CO. Our Collie litters are planned with great thought to combine the best qualities of each sire and dam. We aim to produce true-to-type Collies with the physical beauty, and temperament described in the official AKC Collie standard. Each pup is cherished from the moment of birth, and given the best start we could possibly provide.
Q. & A. with Janet
Why did you start breeding?
My Collies regularly participate in conformation and performance. Most of our collies are Herding Instrinct Certified. I got my first show collie at age 10, selected for me by my cousin, Carol Baynton Phelps, a prominent collie artist. Nine years later I had my first litter. Collies are very special creatures.
What makes your program special?
Maclen Collies are thoughtfully bred to produce the beauty and character described in the official AKC Collie Standard. They are raised with love and lots of attention, using the well-researched Puppy Culture program.
We love finding the perfect, forever homes for our pups by matching prospective owners' lifestyle and priorities with the individual temperaments of the pups. Occasionally we have a young adult available---usually a youngster who had been kept to show but doesn't enjoy being a show dog.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black white and tan, sable and white, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

What a difference it has made to have a breeder with such a caring attitude and extensive experience!
We are so pleased to have Griffin (Maxwell) in our family. He is a complete joy!
His temperament is easy-going and confident. With our other two dogs he fits right in to their play. As you can see in the photos here like to nap with them close by.
Many thanks Maclen Collies for this awesome puppy!
