Meet the breeder

I'm Stephanie S., the breeder behind Magnolia Small Breeds located in Statesboro, GA. At Magnolia Small Breeds, our Shih Tzus are first and foremost beloved members of our family. We began breeding out of a deep love for these smart, affectionate little companions and a desire to thoughtfully contribute to the breed we love. Our puppies are raised with daily love, care, and attention, with a focus on health, temperament, and confident socialization. Our hope is that each puppy leaves our home ready to become a cherished companion and bring joy to their new family for years to come.

Q. & A. with Stephanie

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for animals has been lifelong. Over the years, I have cared for horses, goats, chickens, and many wonderful dogs, but dogs have always had a special place in my heart. I have never been without a pet dog in my life. When I welcomed my first Shih Tzu, I quickly realized just how special this breed truly is. I fell in love with their affectionate personalities, intelligence, loyalty, and wonderful companionship. That experience inspired me to learn as much as I could about Shih Tzus and eventually led me to begin thoughtfully raising them through Magnolia Small Breeds.
  • What makes your program special?

All of our dogs live in our home as cherished members of the family. They receive daily love, attention, and care, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I enjoy learning about their pedigrees and the rich history behind our AKC and CKC bloodlines. Some of our AKC dogs trace back to Kentucky’s Top Hatz line, which has given me an even greater appreciation for the breed. We are proud of the quality, heritage, and strong foundations represented in both lines. We recently added Magnolia Puppy Parlor, a dedicated space designed with the comfort and well-being of our puppies and dogs in mind. Connected to our home like a cozy tiny house, it provides a clean, welcoming environment for raising litters while keeping them closely connected to everyday family life. Our adult dogs have plenty of space to play, exercise, and thrive. They enjoy playground equipment, a large fenced area of nearly an acre, and lots of time outdoors to run, explore, and simply be dogs. Some even love joining us for a swim during the warmer months. Above all, our goal is for every dog to feel loved, safe, enriched, and truly at home as part of our family.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include chocolate, lilac, black, liver, red, liver and white, black and white, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Stephanie is incredible person & breeder. Going into this process was nerve wracking as I had never found a pup online. I was coming newly from a sad situation where the pup passed just prior to coming home. Stephanie was available, informative and supportive. She was open to all my questions and very responsive. She went above and beyond to get our Murphy home. Just prior to his departure his travel plans changed and neither of us were sure if he would make it home to NY. Stephanie went above and beyond endlessly searching for a safe way for Murphy to make it home. These pups are her family and now we are family as well. Murphy is a dream.

Stephanie was fantastic to work with. She kept me up to date with pictures and stories of Paddy. She even made the trip to bring him home a lot easier. I would definitely recommend Magnolia Small Breeds to anyone looking for their forever puppy.

I’m so blessed to have our little guy with us. He’s a furball of love, silliness, playfulness, calmness, and happiness. Stephanie is an experienced breeder, always answered any questions that I had with so much knowledge. The entire process was quick and easy. The transition for our baby boy was smooth and effortless. I am so thankful that we were able to bring home our new guy and show him the love plus more that he had with his mom, dad & litttermates. He’s been a joy to us all and we have so much love and adoration to give him. Thank you Stephanie for being so kind as to accept us as his new family.

What a pleasure it was going through the process of finding my perfect new best friend with Stephanie and Magnolia Small Breeds. Stephanie helped me navigate the process and once I found Posie, she kept me updated with pictures and videos on how my puppy was doing every step of the way until it was time for Posie to come home. If you are looking for a puppy that comes from a clean happy background Magnolia Small Breeds is the place! So thankful I found them!

Stephanie was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was so responsive and even sent puppy photos while we waited for our puppy. Her dogs are incredibly sweet and clearly well socialized. She was so amazing that I recommended her and her dogs to my mom who also has one from her now too. I would 100% purchase from her again and recommend her and her pups to anyone. Thank you, Stephanie!!
