I'm Jessie S., the breeder behind Magpie Springs Australian Shepherds located in Dillon, MT. We are a couple of folks with two amazing dogs, Kiva and Summit. Both dogs are family dogs that enjoy the adventures that mountain life allows: creek swimming, mountain hiking, camping, backpacking. Both dogs have clear genetic panels. Mom has good hips and elbows. Dad had not been tested.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    After getting our Gypsy Lou and enjoying her calm nature, ease in training, and loyal companionship, we wanted to share her beauty and personality with others. We sought out the perfect male stud, Wyatt, whose handsome features and affection for people makes them quite the pair. They gifted us Kiva who is pudding in your arms. She is a couch potato, but loves to play with other dogs and humans.

  • What makes your program special?

    I only breed my females 2 times, so that they can live happy, active lives with their human families. Our puppies are raised literally in our living room until they are about 4 weeks, after which they move into our sunroom and have indoor and outdoor play spaces. All puppies are handled everyday by our family and we have several puppy parties after 5 weeks so that friends with kids handle too.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include red merle, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Jessie

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 refundable deposit and between $700 - $900 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Tris are $1000. Merles are $1,200. This litter will have natural long tails. Dew claws will be removed, and first round of deworming and vaccines will be done. . Deposit goes toward the full cost of puppy.”

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Our experience with Jessie was such a pleasure from the beginning. She was so easy to communicate with and really went out of her way to accommodate our needs timing wise on getting the puppy and meeting halfway (or all the way!) for meet and greets/ puppy drop offs.
