I'm Darla M., the breeder behind Maier Kennels located in Sherwood, OR. Our dogs are bred for structure and temperature. Our babies are socialized, kitty litter potty trained, and health tested. Our biggest desire is to produce puppies that will be wonderful family pets.
Q. & A. with Darla
Why did you start breeding?
I have been surrounded and encouraged by many breeder mentors. We did not go into breeding lightly. We did an enormous amount of research and discussed the pros and cons with our mentors.
We wanted the opportunity for our female to have a litter of her own because of her structure and temperament. We choose a male from one of my breeder mentors who complimented our girl on structure and temperament
What makes your program special?
We specialize is socializing our pets with a great deal of human contact and our adult frenchies. I also have a nursing background in labor/delivery and postpartum which has translated well to breeding and raising puppies.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Spine (OFA, FCI)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
