I'm Charlie S., the breeder behind Maltese of Oak Grove located in Newton, NC. We love the Maltese breed and are dedicated to providing healthy pets with good temperaments and conformation. The AKC (American Kennel Club) states that the Maltese are considered “to be among the gentlest mannered of all little dogs, yet lively and playful as well as vigorous.” They love everyone and everything, including children and other pets. They absolutely are the most loving and affectionate little dog you could ever imagine. We are passionate about providing quality Maltese to loving forever families!

Why did you start breeding?
We have always loved the breed and had a mentor that suggested we breed our female with her male. We enjoyed that first litter so much that one thing led to another, never dreaming we would be where we are today! Our program is means for preserving the Maltese with it's best qualities for generations to come!What makes your program special?
Maltese are really great emotional support dogs. We have seen first hand how beneficial this has been to many of our buyers; many who have become great friends! From filling the void of a cherished pet that has passed on, to seeing the emotional support they offer an anxious child, is very rewarding. We now have 2nd and 3rd generation placements with the same people. In addition to health and temperament, we breed for a compact (cobby) body and cute teddy bear face with short muzzle.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Charlie
Charlie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price
“Prices are based on age, size, gender and pedigree. AKC registration is also a consideration in the price. A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the sale price is required to hold a puppy until he/she is ready to go home with the new owner(s). We accept cash and payment via Good Dog as well as Venmo.”

Charlie may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
