Meet the breeder

I'm Andrea B., the breeder behind Maplewood Silks located in Marlboro, VT. Havana Silk Dogs are the best small breed, and if you've met one, you'll know why! Our puppies are bred to be loyal and loving additions to their families. We do extensive health testing and strive to eliminate heritable diseases. We feel honored to be a breeder of this rare & wonderful breed!

Q. & A. with Andrea

  • Why did you start breeding?

I've wanted to breed dogs since I was a little girl. I fell in love with the Havana Silk Dog breed when I bought my first puppy Cecilia (A.K.A. Silly) years ago. Breeding dogs is a huge honor and responsibility, as breeders shape the future of the breed!
  • What makes your program special?

The Havana Silk Dog Association of America requires that all of its breeders do extensive health testing and conformation evaluation on their dogs before certification. We are a small club of caring breeders who all aim to improve the breed and maintain its high standard of quality, temperament, and optimal health. We love them so much - and we know you will too!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, black and tan, fawn sable, and gold sable. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
