I'm Kristi P., the breeder behind Marvelled Aussies located in Tennessee. Our dogs work hard, play hard, love hard, and are part of the family. Our pups are prepared to excel within their forever homes. We focus on breeding dogs that have enough working drive to keep up with our lifestyle, but also have amazing temperaments and can quickly adapt to a family setting with boundaries and training.
Q. & A. with Kristi
Why did you start breeding?
Our first Aussie came to us around 10 years ago. Prior to her we had other breeds of working dogs, but never an aussie. We were amazed with her ability to get the job done on the farm, and then come in and peacefully coexist as the family pet. Since then we have fell in love with everything about the aussie breed, and strive to raise true working aussies.
What makes your program special?
We take raising and breeding our Australian Shepherds very seriously. We are not just breeding for a "pretty dog". We focus on raising aussies that are true to their original purpose, which is working livestock. All of our dogs have genetic testing prior to breeding (to insure we are raising puppies that will have a long and healthy life), our dogs are also tested in working ability and temperament prior to breeding. Most or our dogs will also have working titles prior to being bred. It is also imperative to us that we are raising puppies that can coexist in a family setting. All of our dogs are raised with our children, and puppies go home being exposed to kids, other dogs, and a variety of farm animals. All puppies are AKC/ASCA registered or ASCA only registered, are up to date on vacations, and on a deworming schedule.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
