Meet the breeder

I'm Nicole S., the breeder behind Mason Dixon Doxies located in Shippensburg, PA. Our dogs are bred for health and temperament. They are loved, healthy and socialized. My husband and I have had dachshunds since we were kids and love the breed's tenacity, loving nature and funny antics.

Q. & A. with Nicole

  • Why did you start breeding?

We purchased the male, Joey, for my mother in law, who lives with us. He is such a love bug, and has beautiful colors. We then found Rosie to be a companion for Joey. We had them Embark tested and verified they are healthy and safe to breed together (Rosie does not carry the merle gene) We decided to breed them.
  • What makes your program special?

We love our dogs. They are raised in a safe, clean environment.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red, chocolate, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting our precious mini dachshund through Nicole was such a seamless process. Nicole was so communicative, sending me photos and videos in the weeks leading up to pick up. She gave me all info I needed on the dogs vaccinations, food preferences, etc. overall, a great and positive experience with Nicole and I’d highly recommend going through her if you’d like a pup of your own!

Nicole was quick to respond to my questions and send updates of Ruby. She is knowledge about doxies and shared her knowledge. Ruby was very well socialized as evidenced by her behavior. Everyone is a friend and she wants to play with everyone. Nicole was even able to accommodate my pickup date.

Nicole is wonderful. She is very responsive and kept us up to date on how our little girl was doing before she was old enough to go home with us. She has checked in a few times since we took our puppy, Lotus, home with us. It’s very obvious that they care very much about their puppies.
