Meet the breeder

I'm Joanna R., the breeder behind Maya's World Labradors with Love located in Wallace, NC. Our dogs are bred with care, integrity, and intention. We raise each litter right here in our home, using a custom protocol that includes elements of the well-known Puppy Culture program to support healthy development from the very beginning. Raising happy, healthy, confident puppies isn’t just a hobby for us — it’s a lifelong passion grounded in science, hands-on experience, and a whole lot of love.

Q. & A. with Joanna

  • Why did you start breeding?

My journey into breeding started long before our first litter of puppies. With a background in Animal Science and years of hands-on experience breeding other species — including horses, swine, and chickens — I’ve always had a deep respect for animal genetics, health, and responsible reproduction.
  • What makes your program special?

For us, breeding and raising puppies is more than a job or hobby. It’s a lifelong passion rooted in education, hands-on experience, and the joy of watching animals grow and bond with the people who love them.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include chocolate and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Joanna

Joanna has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Joanna partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“Our goal is to match each puppy with the family and lifestyle that fits them best. While buyers may have preferences regarding color and sex, we also carefully observe each puppy’s temperament, energy level, confidence, drive, and personality as they develop. Puppies are raised in our home and handled daily, which allows us to get to know them very well. We spend time evaluating how they respond to people, new experiences, sounds, handling, and their littermates. Families are matched with puppies based on many factors, including activity level, previous dog experience, family environment, goals for the dog (companion, hunting, performance, service prospect, etc.), and overall temperament compatibility. Buyers choose in the order deposits are received, but we reserve the right to guide placements if we believe a particular puppy may be a better fit for a specific home or purpose. Our priority is creating successful long-term matches for both the puppy and the family.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $350 non-refundable deposit and $1,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes the veterinary evaluation, deworming, and the first round of vaccination. The deposit will hold the puppy until it is ready to go home at approximately 8 weeks of age, pending health and veterinary clearance. If the buyer decides not to purchase the puppy after placing the deposit, the deposit will not be refunded. If the remaining balance is not paid within ten (10) business days after notification that the puppy is ready for pickup, the seller reserves the right to offer the puppy to another buyer without further obligation to the original buyer. This deposit is refundable only if the puppy becomes seriously ill, passes away, or is otherwise deemed unavailable by the seller before the scheduled pickup date.”
