I'm Josh C., the breeder behind Mayberry Dachshunds located in Mount Airy, NC. Our miniature dachshunds were hand selected for temperament, health, socialization, coat/color, and athleticism. They are very loving loyal dogs. They are all checked by a veterinarian with vaccinations deworm and health checks. We strive to provide the very best miniature dachshunds available.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got into breeding miniature dachshunds just for the love of the breed and a hobby for me and my daughter. We enjoy the whole process from pregnancy to the smile on someone’s face when they get there new companion.

  • What makes your program special?

    The most special thing to me about breeding is watching the mother care for the baby when they are born. It’s amazing to see. And of course the adorable miniature dachshunds puppies

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Josh

Josh has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Josh partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

    Josh was helpful in selecting a pup. Adrian is now 7 months old and must be closing in on 10 pounds. last month the vet weighed him at 8.6 pounds. He is growing so fast. Not to worry he is growing long and not round. He is a happy playful pup. So funny to watch him dash around the house then hop up on the sofa and climb into my lap. I am not driving anymore and Josh went out of his way to deliver Adrian to my house. Josh has kept in touch and clearly shows his interest in the puppies he bred. I am very happy with my interactions with Josh and naturally Adrian. I would highly recommend Josh.

    Josh was very responsive and you could tell that he cared about his puppies and their parents. He took the time to FaceTime me when I was apprehensive (so many scams these days) and kept me up to date on my boy Franklin. The meetup was smooth and pleasant and I’m very happy with my pup!     Josh was really responsive to messages and was flexible about coordination of pickup. He took great care of our Sadie girl for the first 11 weeks. She came to us about 90% crate trained and was following some basic commands. Sadie is a very smart, strong healthy girl and has socialized to other people and dogs very well! I would like to thank Josh from Mayberry Dachshunds for giving her a really solid foundation and for the care and attention provided to her in the first weeks of her life! We would definitely work with Josh again for any future puppies!
