Meet the breeder

I'm Ashley M., the breeder behind McAbee’s Golden Retrievers located in Belton, SC. Our dogs are bred to be excellent family companions as well great working dogs. We strive for amazing health and temperament with an overall focus on conformation, athleticism, and intelligence. Golden Retrievers are a very intelligent and unique breeds, and we are excited to educate others on care and all of their amazing qualities! Our main goal is to produce healthy family pets and with excellent health tested lines.

Why did you start breeding?
I first got into breeding 10 years ago when I bought my first two Dalmatians, Benji and Reese. Benji passed away in April of 2025 at 13 years old. His Mate Reese past six years ago. When I started breeding, it was because my friends and families wanted puppies from my dogs. Little did I know I would enjoy it so much that I continued doing it because it gives me a purpose. I also bred Australian Cattle dogs for 4 years. I’ve loved my job as a breeder, and we now are raising top quality Golden Retrievers that come from outstanding pedigrees, as well as OFA CHIC certified parents.
What makes your program special?
My breeding program thrives on good customer service and life-long advice and relationships to my future puppy families. I raise all of my puppies indoors and spend a minimum of 12 hours a day with them. I make sure all of my dogs and puppies are fed and whelping areas are clean at all times. We make it easy for puppies to transition from their litter to their new homes by introducing them to a daily routine. We also start ENS at 3 days old to start.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Ashley

Ashley has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Ashley partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“We want to insure each puppy goes to their perfect family. In order to do that we send a questionnaire out to our puppy family’s at 6 weeks old asking a series of questions and what there expectations are for a life long companion. At 7 weeks old we temperament test each individual puppy and try to place each puppy based on our families answers to the questionnaire! ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and $2,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes a 2 year health guarantee, AKC registration, age appropriate vaccines, bi weekly worming, and health check up, as well as a gift from us for puppies going home. All deposits are non-refundable.”

Ashley may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Litter update on 03 Sept •
🐾 Five Week Pup-Date! 🐾 How in the world are our babies already 5 weeks old?! 🥹💛 Time is absolutely flying, and these little personalities are getting bigger by the day! We’ve hit some BIG milestones this week! Everyone is officially sleeping through the night with their last meal around 9:00 PM with wake up time a 6:00 AM 🙌🏼 — which is a HUGE win! They are also doing such a great job with their potty trays and are using them pretty consistently now! 👏🏼🐾 We love watching those early habits start to click. Another big step — everyone has officially transitioned to eating hard puppy food! 🥣🐶 They are doing great with their kibble and are now only nursing from Mom twice a day as we continue the weaning process. Their personalities are really starting to shine! They’re becoming more playful, curious, confident, and adventurous every day. They love playing with their siblings, exploring new things, and of course getting ALL the attention. ❤️ Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue introducing them to new experiences and building those important foundations to help prepare them for life with their forever families. Litter update on 26 Aug •
🐾📚 ONE MONTH PUP-DATE! 📚🐾 Can you believe our Back-to-School babies are officially ONE MONTH OLD?! 🎉🐶 The past four weeks have absolutely flown by, and these little Golden nuggets are changing more every single day! Their personalities are really starting to shine, and we’re loving getting to know each one of them. 💛 This week has been a big one! The puppies have started their weaning journey and are learning that there’s a whole world of yummy food outside of Mom’s milk. 🥣 They’re becoming more playful, curious, confident, and adventurous by the day—and the puppy wrestling has officially begun! 😂 They’re exploring new sights, sounds, textures, and experiences as we continue building the foundation for confident, well-rounded puppies. Of course, there’s still plenty of eating, sleeping, snuggling, and growing happening too. 🐾 It’s so much fun watching each puppy develop their own little personality. Some are already showing us their silly side, some are little explorers, some are cuddle bugs…and some are convinced they run the whole classroom. 😂📚✏️ The next few weeks are going to bring so many exciting milestones, and we can’t wait to continue sharing their journey with all of our puppy families. Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
