I'm Patina T., the breeder behind Merry Hounds located in Cochise, AZ. Our Merry Hounds Beagle pups are well socialized and merry! Our pups will have age-appropriate vaccinations, worming, veterinarian health checks, and a one-year genetic health guarantee. We perform Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) in order to better prepare all pups. We do not allow our pups to go to apartments. Beagles are not well suited for apartment living and need a place to run and exercise, or a secure enclosure to be left alone in while you are away.

Why did you start breeding?
I have always wanted to start a dog breeding practice and really got a good idea of what it entails by helping my friend, who breeds Bassets. She encouraged me to start my own program and after some intense research and preparation, we are set up with some quality females and a stud dog that is one-in-a-million.What makes your program special?
Our breeding program is special because we offer support to puppy owners for a lifetime. We care about the health and well-being of all of "our" pups, and offer to re-home or take back any of our dogs. Our pups are well-socialized and raised among the many sights and smells of our ranch, and among our other pets so they are well-rounded and confident. We perform Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) in order to better prepare our pups.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Patina
Patina has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $200 non-refundable deposit and $1,400 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“The price includes completed AKC registration, puppy socialization, vaccinations, dewormings, veterinarian health exam, one year health guarantee, and lifetime support. Our puppies are a set price, regardless of color or gender. Deposits are received after confirmation of pregnancy, and buyers pick puppies at four weeks of age in order of which deposits are received.”
Contract & health guarantee
Patina may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Musladin-Leuke Syndrome (MLS)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
