Steve K.

Breeder of Labrador Retrievers

Meet the breeder

I'm Steve K., the breeder behind Michigan Elite Labradors located in Wheeler, MI. Our dogs have proven to be the greatest companions to our family. We started breeding to contribute to breed betterment and to share smart and loveable puppies with other families.

Q. & A. with Steve

  • Why did you start breeding?

For us, this started in June 2005, with a chocolate puppy named Cocoa. Alisha surprised Steve with Cocoa on the day that he moved into his first house. From there, our love for the breed grew, as did our number of Labs. We married in 2009 and expanded our kennel when we moved into our new house together. When we began keeping puppies from our own Labs, it deepened our love for them even more!
  • What makes your program special?

We strive to have a family feel with the families who get a MEL. We have MEL family reunions every year in September and have a such a great time seeing everyone who stays so close throughout the year on our Facebook group. Our Labradors are not a means to an end for us- they are our end. We love the lifestyle!
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
