Meet the breeder

I'm Scott M., the breeder behind Middle Ridge Retrievers located in Ozark, AR. At Middle Ridge Retrievers, we strive to connect our puppies with loving owners. A life story is what's most important. Remember all the great dogs you've had? We want you to feel like you’ve made that same great choice with a pup from us.

Q. & A. with Scott

  • Why did you start breeding?

I had a really good lab that had a great personality and strong drive. A friend asked if I'd consider breeding him to his female to get some puppies since she was getting older. I agreed, loved the process, learned a ton of new things, and have continued to do it, implementing new knowledge, ideas, and strategies to produce healthy and happy pups.
  • What makes your program special?

My dedication to good service, my attention to detail, my desire for a good reputation, and my admiration for Labradors. I want your puppy to be the best fit for you with the least trouble down the road.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Scott was wonderful to work with from the beginning of inquiry, to getting my puppy, through to follow-up. He was prompt in responding, and really cares about his puppies and made the transition as smooth as possible in answering all of my questions leading up to getting our puppy. He even drove out of his way a bit to help shorten my drive to exchange our puppy. We now have the sweetest lab, and our whole family is in love. I highly recommend finding your forever pup through Middle Ridge Retrievers. Thank you, Scott!

Scott was really great to work with. We selected a chocolate female puppy from a Ruby and Sam litter. Scott spent quite a bit of time with me - providing many pictures, including momma and daddy. He told us about her personality and information on the entire litter. I would not think twice about getting another puppy from Middle Ridge Retrievers - it would be a definite yes! Our puppy, Elphie, is now 25 weeks old and just shy of 50 lbs! She still has green eyes that will steal your heart with one glance. She is healthy and happy and playful! She gets along beautifully with our 7 year old chocolate lab named Penny.

Scott responded very quickly to my original inquiry about the puppy and was able to answer any questions I had regarding the breed. He sent me updated pictures of my puppy every couple of weeks so I could see how she was growing!

Scott was nothing short of amazing during the entire process! My youngest is autistic, and my husband and I were looking for a puppy that would fit our families needs.. Scott was able to recommend a puppy based on personality and boy did he deliver. Beau is the best boy out there! If I ever plan on getting another for our family, Scott will be the first person I call!
