I'm Gayla V., the breeder behind Midwest Mini Mi-kis located in Clearwater, KS. Our program is focused on breeding Mi-Kis that are well-structured, intelligent, learn quickly, have outstanding temperaments, and are very loving. We strive to place each one of our pups in an enriching and loving home! Let's see if we have the perfect pup to add to your family!
Q. & A. with Gayla
Why did you start breeding?
A Mi-ki was in a Dog Fancy magazine & I also saw them in person at the Chicago Expo when International Mi-Ki Registry had all their Mi-Kis sitting on tables & educating people as they came to their booth. IMR breeders have done so much for the breed & after a lot of work, Mi-Kis were recognized by the United Kennel Club in 2016. Reputable breeders CHIC certify their dogs' eyes, heart, & patellas.
What makes your program special?
Some Vets push yearly vaccines. That is unnecessary and unsafe for our Mi-kis. Vaccines can cause cancers, neurological issues, seizures, and tumors. For my program I allow the 3 pup vaccines (DA2PP) 4 wks. apart starting at wk 9, then the 3 yr rabies vaccine for the rest of my dogs' lives. Have blood drawn and sent to a lab. Titer testing will prove your dog has enough antibiotics for 7-10 yrs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red, silver, white, brown, mahogany, fawn, cream, blue, black, and apricot. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
