I'm Rachel M., the breeder behind Milady’s Shelties East Texas located in Lufkin, TX. We strive to have a small breeding program with the best interest of our puppies’ health and longevity. We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families.

I was very happy to find Rachaels puppy on Good Dog. He was discounted, so we were able to afford him. He’s beautiful, but aloof, which Rachel told me was a phase he was going thru. Both she and her husband responded quickly to my interest, and were very accommodating in suggesting a closer area to meet, and not asking a deposit. When we met, I instantly fell in love, and claimed him without too many questions. I don’t know if this added to being unhappy to learn that my new 3-1/2 month old puppy was not only infected with hookworms but also was completely not potty trained. I wish I would have taken him immediately on the way home to my vet for a complete checkup. It would have reduced our ordeal by four days. But four days later I found blood in his stool when I was hosing down my patio. My vet worked me in and the next day he was diagnosed with hookworms. He was given antibiotics, probiotics, and hookworm meds. I have since started him on heartworm, fleas and ticks, and worming meds. His health records were also confusing. I have three other dogs in the house, so I have to segregate them from my pup. It will be over a month to be able to even START potty training him. My vet has told me its not uncommon to get a puppy with hookworms. But I have have had many dogs and cats over the last 50 years and not had this problem. But in a few months, I will hopefully have a healthy, potty trained puppy to love for many years. Kathleen McGarity
