I'm Megan W., the breeder behind Mission Ready Retrievers located in Chardon, OH. Understanding a service dog's impact first hand, upholding the highest breeding standards, and being a Certified Dog Trainer creates a unique trifecta that sets Mission Ready Retrievers apart from the rest. From conception, the puppy’s mental, physical, and emotional development is priority.
Q. & A. with Megan
Why did you start breeding?
Being a veteran who knows the healing power of animals, my ultimate goal is to help others benefit from therapy and service dogs. On my journey to this goal, I noticed a great need for healthy, well-bred dogs that have gone through the proper health and temperament testing. I quickly learned training service dogs wouldn’t be enough and we also needed to contribute to the working dog candidates.
What makes your program special?
Research supports breeders being able to work with litters in a way to impact them positively the rest of the dog’s life. Especially for service dog work, breeding a fully health tested and conformationally correct dog isn't enough. Having an expansive background in training and behavior sets our litters apart from the rest.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
