I'm Samantha H., the breeder behind Monarch Australian Shepherds located in Crosby, TX. We wanted to pass along the joys of this amazing breed to other dog lovers, so we decided to start breeding Australian Shepherds in 2016. Our goal is to breed quality Australian Shepherds that are fit for show and performance while making excellent family dogs and companions.

Why did you start breeding?
After losing my childhood dog, I reached out to a Hall of Fame breeder to get my second Australian Shepherd. Being from an active 4H family as a youth, I was very interested in showing and competing with my next dog. I also decided that I wanted to help other families find quality Australian Shepherds to enjoy this wonderful breed. My mom was passionate too and we enjoy our dog hobby together.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are family first, and our puppies are raised by us with great care. We believe in the amazing versatility of this breed. Our dogs are competitive in the conformation ring, but also show a great drive for the stock, agility, and other performance events. We believe in health testing parents, including available genetic tests, OFA hips and elbows, and eye certifications.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Australian Shepherd puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
PawPrint Genetic Panel (Breed Specific)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
