I'm Suzzie B., the breeder behind Monarch Pointers & Cockers located in Manhattan, IL. I am passionate about preserving and improving upon the breeds that I own. This is a hobby that I love. I am very involved in conformation and love to title my dogs! I also pay attention to proper movement and health with each carefully planned litter that I produce. Every litter is always a little different, but it is so fulfilling to see the different personalities and such a joy and challenge to hand-raise each puppy. I love watching them blossom!
Q. & A. with Suzzie
Why did you start breeding?
The love of purebred animals has always intrigued me. My first Cocker Spaniel had some beautiful dogs in her pedigree and from there I have just always wanted to breed dogs to their standard; as well as ones that are healthy. I’m a Biology teacher, so my breeding is limited.
What makes your program special?
With the very limited number of breedings that I do, I try to make the most out of every litter. I do my best to find out about any health issues that may arise and try not to breed the negative things, only ones that will produce healthy, beautiful companions. I breed sporting dogs, so conformation is very important to me. Proper movement is definitely a trait that I strive for.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
