Losing Hopper, our beloved black Lab, was one of the most heartbreaking experiences our family has ever gone through. His passing was completely unexpected after he developed a rare blood and bone cancer, and the loss he left behind in our home was enormous. Hopper was a rescue, and he truly was one of a kind. He brought more joy, laughter, and unconditional love into our family than I could ever put into words. He was incredibly intelligent, loyal, loving, and seemed to understand us in a way that only a special dog can. After loving Hopper, I knew I could never imagine having another breed. There was just something about a black Lab that had completely captured my heart. At first, after Hopper passed, we really weren’t looking for another dog. The pain was still very raw. But then I started seeing old posts and memories of Hopper pop up, and I realized how much I missed all of those little things I had taken for granted—especially walking through the door and having him there to greet me. The house just didn’t feel the same without him. Because Hopper had been a rescue and we knew very little about his genetics or health history, I knew that if we ever opened our hearts to another dog, I wanted to find a responsible breeder who took the health, temperament, and quality of their Labradors very seriously. Then, almost as if it was meant to happen, I came across a post about Moonlight Kennels, a highly recommended Labrador breeder. I saw that they had newborn black Lab puppies, and something immediately pulled me in. I reached out, and that’s when I began talking with Joanah. From our very first conversations, Joanah was absolutely amazing. I shared Hopper’s story with her, how suddenly we lost him, and how deeply his absence was being felt throughout our home. She was incredibly compassionate, patient, and supportive throughout the entire process. What impressed me just as much was how seriously she takes breeding Labradors. It was obvious that this isn’t simply about producing puppies for her—she genuinely cares about the health, temperament, quality, and future of every dog she breeds. And then came Dunkin. ❤️ Our new black Lab puppy, Dunkin, has been such an incredible addition to our family. He was perfectly matched to us, and he has already brought so much happiness, laughter, and life back into our home. He isn’t here to replace Hopper—no dog ever could. Hopper will always have his own place in our hearts. But Dunkin has helped our hearts grow around that loss and reminded us how wonderful it is to have that special Labrador love filling our home again. We finally feel whole again. I will forever be grateful to Moonlight Kennels and Joanah for helping us through such an emotional journey and for bringing Dunkin into our lives. The care they put into their Labradors is exceptional, but even more importantly, the entire experience was incredibly human, compassionate, and full of love. If the day ever comes when we decide to add another Labrador to our family, there is absolutely no question where we will go. Moonlight Kennels, without a doubt. ❤️🐾 Hopper will always be the black Lab who started it all, and Dunkin is helping us begin a beautiful new chapter.

Joanah was so responsive and knowledgeable about any questions you have. You can tell they really care about their dogs.They stayed in touch and sent me regular updates about my puppy. I'm so glad I found Joanah through Good Dog, and I couldn't be happier with Cash. Cash is exactly how they said he was while he was in their care. Not only was Joanah so much help during pickup, but she made it such an easy transition. They make a great example of exactly what a dog breeder should be doing. So glad that I was able to get my dog from Moonlight Kennels!
