Meet the breeder

I'm Christina C., the breeder behind Mossy Creek Springers located in Eastman, GA. I have made the decision to move our program toward English Springer Spaniels that more closely reflect the breed standard in color, structure, and temperament. My focus is on producing healthy, sound, stable dogs with the affectionate nature, intelligence, willingness to work, and versatility that make this breed so special. That means being more selective about which dogs move forward in our breeding program and taking time to evaluate what each dog brings to a potential pairing. A beautiful coat or an appealing puppy picture is only one small part of the equation. I want to consider the whole dog: health, pedigree, temperament, structure, trainability, and how that dog functions in everyday life. These changes are a transition, and I believe in being honest about where we are and where we are going. Some of our dogs reflect the earlier direction of our program. My future breeding decisions are being guided by stronger standards and a clearer vision for the Springers I want to produce. One of the biggest changes in our program is a stronger commitment to comprehensive health testing. DNA testing is a valuable tool, but it is only one part of evaluating a breeding dog. Our approach includes breed-relevant genetic screening alongside orthopedic evaluations, eye examinations, and other appropriate health screenings.

Q. & A. with Christina

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got into breeding through my love for English Springer Spaniels and my interest in animal science, genetics, and raising animals. As an agricultural education teacher, I’ve spent much of my career teaching students about animal care and responsible management. Starting Mossy Creek Springers in 2021 gave me the opportunity to bring those interests together. As I’ve gained experience, my goals have become more focused. Living with and training my dogs, participating in dog sports with my daughter, and seeing the impact of health challenges firsthand have shaped the breeder I want to be. I’ve strengthened my health testing expectations and am moving my program toward breed-standard colors, sound structure, and stable temperaments. What began as a love for Springers has grown into a commitment to thoughtful breeding, continued learning, and supporting the families who welcome our puppies home.
  • What makes your program special?

What makes Mossy Creek Springers special is the combination of my animal science background, our family’s involvement with our dogs, and my willingness to keep learning and improving. My daughter and I train and participate in dog sports together, which gives us opportunities to understand our dogs’ personalities, trainability, and abilities beyond breeding. I’ve become more intentional about the future of my program, with stronger health testing expectations and a focus on breed-standard colors, sound structure, and stable temperaments. My standard for future breeding dogs includes OFA hips rated Good or Excellent, completion of the testing required for a CHIC number, CAER eye examinations, temperament testing, and at least one earned title. I evaluate individual health results carefully rather than relying on DNA testing alone. Temperament testing adds another layer to my evaluation alongside everyday observations and training experiences. Our puppies receive Early Neurological Stimulation, Early Scent Introduction, and age-appropriate enrichment, along with gentle introductions to handling and grooming. I observe their individual personalities to help families choose a puppy suited to their lifestyle. Above all, I value transparency and lasting relationships with our puppy families. I want owners to understand the breed, feel comfortable asking questions, and have support as their pupp
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include tri-roan, liver white and roan, liver and white, white and black, red and white, black and white, black white and tan, white and liver, and liver white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Christina was great!! So responsive and she posts weekly updates with pics and videos of the puppies that we always looked forward to. She worked with us on pick up and sent our puppy home with a bunch of goodies and all the paperwork we needed. Absolutely professional and friendly and her dogs are well cared for and beautiful.

Christina was great to deal with.. brought the puppy to the airport with more than enough supplies and toys to make it all the way home with us. His disposition was exactly the way she explained. Very pleased with all aspects of getting a puppy from Mossy Creek. It’s been a few weeks now and he is a very smart puppy, very little accidents while potty training.

I absolutely loved Christina and her daughter Blair. They were welcoming and loved each and every pup. The kennels where the puppies stayed were clean and tidy. The pigs were an added bonus! I could not have asked for a better breeder. We FaceTimed and I fell in love with the pup I had chosen, when I went for a visit and met Christina I knew Mossy Creek was where I was officially going. I was very specific with finding the perfect breeder and pup. I looked for over 6 months! I am out of Augusta, Ga and traveled to Eastman to meet and pick up Aspen (moondancer). Highly recommend!!
