I'm Joshua M., the breeder behind Mountain View Kennels located in Goldendale, WA. We are a small, family-based breeder located in beautiful Washington state, raising exceptional AKC Labrador Retrievers with a focus on health, temperament, and lifelong companionship. Our dogs are a cherished part of our family and raised in a home environment filled with love, attention, and early socialization.
The dam of this litter has undergone comprehensive health testing, including: OFA-certified hips, genetic testing for breed-relevant conditions and eye exams cleared by a certified veterinary ophthalmologist.
These puppies are bred with care and intention, with strong lineage, classic Lab temperament, and a playful, gentle nature. They are ideal for families, service or therapy work, hunting partners, or active companionship. We prioritize ethical breeding standards, ongoing communication with puppy families and a strong foundation for healthy, well-adjusted dogs. Puppies will go home with: AKC registration, vet check and age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, health guarantee and puppy starter kit to aid in success of transition. If you're looking for a Labrador Retriever that’s not only beautiful but also sound in body and mind, we’d love to hear from you!
Q. & A. with Joshua
Why did you start breeding?
Our journey into breeding began with a deep love for Labrador Retrievers—their loyal hearts, gentle nature, and eagerness to please make them such a joy to live with. We’ve always appreciated the versatility of Labs: whether they’re curled up at your feet, retrieving in the field, or romping in the yard with kids, they give their whole heart.
We didn’t start out intending to become breeders. It grew out of a desire to preserve and share the traits we love most in this breed: good health, solid temperament, and true Lab trainability. After investing in quality dogs with proven health and genetics, and learning from experienced mentors, we made it our mission to raise puppies the right way—with purpose, care, and integrity.
What makes your program special?
Our breeding program is built around family, faith, and the belief that how a puppy is raised matters just as much as its pedigree. What sets us apart is the way we raise our puppies—in our home, as part of our everyday lives, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and love of a busy rural family. From day one, our pups are handled gently by both adults and children, and they grow up learning how to be part of a real-life, active household.
We’re intentional about health and genetics. Our adult dogs are AKC-registered and have been tested for hips, eyes, and key genetic conditions. We’re not looking to produce the most puppies—we’re focused on producing the right puppies: well-bred Labradors with sound temperaments, steady minds, and solid bodies.
We also take our time with early training and socialization. Puppies begin crate exposure, gentle guidance, and foundational confidence-building before they ever leave our home. We want each one to leave ready to bond, learn, and thrive in their new family. We stay connected with our puppy homes and are always here for support along the way.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

About Timber
Timber is so sweet and obedient. She loves attention, playing fetch, swimming, playing with and or just hanging out with us, going on rides in the car, camping, and other activities. She has an awesome and people pleasing personality. She loves getting hyper and playing with you and with just a word she can be calmly laying down at my feet.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Mountain View Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
DNA Profile, D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
