Meet the breeder

I'm Stephanie S., the breeder behind Mud Path Australian Shepherds located in Fort Recovery, OH. Our dogs are bred with health and temperament at the forefront. Parent dogs are health tested to ASCA standards and both parents live onsite raised with our family. We strive to produce biddable Aussies willing to please, driven to work, and born to love. The goal of our aussies are for them to be easy family dogs are great to go on adventures but not required to need vigorous exercise as some high drive aussies do. Please see our official business site for program details found in our "More about Stephanie" section of our profile under "Stephanie's Links" prior to filling out an application.

Q. & A. with Stephanie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up on a dairy farm here in Mercer county. Animals and breeding have been apart of my life since the beginning. Included on our farm were always dogs, usually of the herding variety; collies, border collies, good "farm dog special". My first Australian Shepherd was by far one of the best resourceful farm family friendly dogs we owned. She picked up on tasks quickly, but could slow down and be gentle with my young kids (babies and toddlers). She had such an awareness to her surroundings and could problem solve on her own. That's one thing I've noticed aussies will do vs other breeds and why we fell in love. They're problem solving skills as well as biddable behavior is like no other. Creating the opportunity for others to have that "one" dog in their lifetime is our goal. Their soul dog. Please scroll down to our official business site link to learn more about our program in our "More about Stephanie" in the "Links" section.
  • What makes your program special?

At Mud Path we strive to breed dogs whom health and temperament create 'easy' family dogs for active families. When we say 'easy', we mean we strive for pups to be pleasant to be around, they can handle life as it comes. The high times and the low times, very adaptable. No genetic diseases that would cause constant vet visits, no strenuous exercise routines requiring vigorous exercising of the dogs multiple times a day to "calm them down". We like them to always be up for an adventure, car ride, walk, but also have an off switch. To be gentle and calm when necessary. To sit and rest with you and your family during quiet time, movies, or just enjoying time around the campfire. Please scroll down to our official business site link to learn more about our program in our "More about Stephanie" in the "Links" section.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red merle, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
