I'm Stephen E., the breeder behind Natural State Aussies located in Natural Dam, AR. Our dogs grow up on a small farm in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. They are raised with love and a joy for the outdoors and all the beauties that nature has to offer. We pride ourselves on raising healthy, happy puppies that will fill your heart with love and affection, and have the best temperaments.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Stephen partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“The price includes puppy, a bag of starter food, and first round of vaccinations. We ask for a $500 non-refundable deposit to hold a puppy until it is ready for pick up.”

Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

I had a wonderful experience working with Stephen when purchasing my mini Australian Shepherd! From the very beginning, he was extremely friendly, responsive, and informative. He always made himself available to communicate, not just through messages on the app, but even took the time to have a phone call with me to answer all of my questions in detail. Stephen went above and beyond to make the entire process easy and stress-free. He helped us arrange transportation for our puppy, which made everything simple and convenient. Throughout the process, he kept us updated with photos and videos, both before, and after we placed our deposit, which really helped us feel confident and excited about bringing our puppy home. As for our puppy, she’s been absolutely wonderful! She’s very alert, playful, curious and brave. I read in another owners story that they felt their puppy’s positive attitude came from being raised on a farm, and I would have to completely agree. Our puppy is playful with our older dog, doesn’t let loud noises scare her, and is incredibly curious and social. She has been such a joy to have in our family! Overall, this was a truly positive experience from start to finish, and I would highly recommend Stephen to anyone looking for a happy, healthy, and well socialized mini Australian Shepherd.

Stephen was fantastic to work with! My daughter fell in love with a female mini Aussie on good dog. The initial contact and communication was quick and smooth. He was very honest and gave lots of updates when we put the deposit down. We ate from Florida and he helped set up a reliable flight nanny. Got everything I needed - medical, paperwork, dog information. The puppy is absolutely amazing!! More beautiful than her pictures. She drove, flew 2 legs of a flight with a stranger and was put into our car and she had no fear or anxiety. No issues adjusting what so ever. I have never seen such a well behaved and socialized puppy at such a young age. We love her dearly already and have been sending the link to everyone who falls in love with her telling them about her siblings!! highly recommend Stephen!

I was extremely hesitant to use Good Dog to find our next pup because I had never used it and I’ve also never met anyone who’s used it. My gut told me it was going to work out and, because of Stephen, this experience was so insanely smooth and efficient! From the very first message (10pm on a Saturday) to the day we picked up our pup (he gladly met us halfway), Stephen was there- ready to answer any questions, sent us all the candid pics of our puppy we could want, gave us great information about our dog and the breed overall, and just reassured us in any way that we needed. Stephen’s customer service is impeccable! Now, I know all dogs’ personality differ drastically even between puppies of the same litter, but I cannot give Stephen enough credit for my dog’s wonderful personality. Having them spend their first few weeks of life on a farm has made all the difference. Our dog is extremely smart, not afraid of loud noises, super playful with other animals and is so curious of the world. Again, I know it could just be that I got lucky with this little guy of mine but I do think their upbringing played a huge part. If you are looking for an Aussie to add to your family, I highly recommend you reach out to Stephen. I cannot say enough good things about my experience and I know you you’ll have an amazing time too!
