North Bay Shetland Sheepdogs

Barbara S.

Breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs

Meet the breeder

I'm Barbara S., the breeder behind North Bay Shetland Sheepdogs located in Rockcreek, OH. We are a small hobby kennel dedicated to the standard. We only breed one litter every year or two, and we breed for health, temperament, conformation, and intelligence. Our priority is quality over quantity, and our puppies are placed in loving homes that we have reviewed carefully.

Q. & A. with Barbara

  • Why did you start breeding?

I was raised on a sheep farm, where I learned professional herding at 8 years old. We had working Collies and Shelties. I learned breeding, training, and grooming, and I whelped my first litter at 9 years old. My parents occasionally showed their dogs as well. Canine companions have always been a way of life for me.
  • What makes your program special?

We only breed our dogs to Champions or Grand Champions. To ensure our puppies' well-being, no pups leave before 10 weeks of age. If older, they are trained as is appropriate for their age (ie, collar, leash, house trained, etc.) so each pup's transition is successful and convenient for their new family. Our dogs are completely groomed and have all DNA testing done. We take great pride in offering the best Shelties possible. We are dedicated to the health of our dogs, and we are available for our puppy families at all times.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
