I'm Dawn L., the breeder behind North Flow Chesapeakes located in Charleroi, PA. I have been in this breed for several decades and have trained/shown dogs for longer than that. I aim to produce the best Chesapeake with the trainability and temperament that makes everyone enjoy their dog, train them, and, most importantly, live with them.
Q. & A. with Dawn
Why did you start breeding?
I love working with & showing my dogs. I decided in 2008 that I wanted to try showing & breeding after being in the breed for a number of years. I had my first litter in 2010, and I just love having puppies. I love seeing them grow and their personalities develop. I spend hours molding them in those first 8 weeks, and it is one of the absolute joys in my life. Ever since that first litter, I have continued to learn.
What makes your program special?
I believe in producing the best quality dog I can regardless of if they will go to show, hunt, or pet homes. My husband and I hand raise all our pups. We spend many hours using proven methods to help them in their next adventure. We begin potty training, leash training, crate training, and some commands. We strive to have well rounded puppies ready to cope with whatever situations they encounter.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Zap
Zap is a great dog. She is a registered therapy dog. She loves to work and entertain everyone.
Tribute, mom
Chesapeake Bay Retriever
About Tribute
Tribute is a conformationally sound girl with a true Chessie personality. She is very attached to 'her people' but you have to earn being in her 'inner circle'. She is super easy to train and wants to please possibly more than any other Chessie I've owned. She gets along great with other dogs and has a fantastic coat.

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
