I'm Amie S., the breeder behind NorthRidge Australian Shepherds and Mini Aussie Doodles located in Louisville, OH. We are Aussie lovers through and through! Our dogs are such an important part of our lives, and we can’t imagine being without them. It’s an amazing experience as breeders to provide others with Australian Shepherd puppies that we know will bring them the same joy!
Q. & A. with Amie
Why did you start breeding?
Kodie was my first Aussie that I acquired from an internship. Trained her myself to work cattle. We worked on a very large Angus ranch with a 1100 head of cattle. I bought another Aussie (Reno) to help cover ground working cows and I bred them once and trained some of the pups for buyers who were cattlemen like me. It wasn’t long an I had a list of buyers wanting my Aussies. That’s how it all began
What makes your program special?
True love for the breed. The longer I owned Aussies I quickly realized how versatile they truly were. My breeding started to focus on temperament, structure an their brilliant minds. They can do so many things with the right mind set. Therapy dogs-frisbee buddy-agility-fly ball-k9 good citizens- and what they are originally bred for herding livestock. But my favorite of all is the end of the day a snuggle buddy.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red merle and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
