Meet the breeder

I'm Gabriel B., the breeder behind NorwellLabs located in Norwell, MA. Lucy is expecting her next litter around June 15, 2026, with puppies anticipated to be ready for their new homes beginning August 12, 2026. Lucy was bred to Leo remotely on April 15–16 and received a positive ultrasound confirmation of pregnancy on May 11. This litter is the result of a carefully planned pairing between Endless Mt’s Sir Leonardo the Loyal “Leo” (AKC SS30032902), born September 30, 2021, and Magnificent Lucille of Simon Hill Benyosef “Lucy” (AKC SS26900107), born June 4, 2021. Leo is the son of GCH CH Moonlit’s Endless Mt Romeo and comes from a long line of accomplished Labrador Retrievers. Lucy, raised here in Massachusetts, is known for her friendly temperament, intelligence, and eagerness to please. Her first litter, born in the summer of 2024, consisted of eight healthy puppies. Both Leo and Lucy have completed extensive health testing with excellent results, including OFA-certified hips and elbows, advanced cardiac evaluations, and CERF/CAER eye examinations. We believe that responsible breeding begins with health, temperament, and sound genetics. Lucy’s prenatal care is overseen by Dr. Kathy Sneider, VMD, of Blue Ribbon Veterinary Service in Pembroke and Plymouth, Massachusetts. Her expertise helps ensure that both Lucy and her puppies receive exceptional care throughout the pregnancy and whelping process. These AKC dogs are $3,000 with a required non-refundable deposit of $1,000, and they are sold with AKC Limited Registration. These Labrador Retrievers are bred to be wonderful family companions — friendly, affectionate, intelligent, and eager to be part of everyday life. Whether you’re looking for a walking partner, a family dog, or a loyal friend, these puppies are being raised with the goal of becoming exceptional companions. Before going home, each puppy will receive age-appropriate vaccinations, routine deworming, a veterinary examination, and a PetLink microchip. New owners will receive instructions for transferring the microchip registration into their name. Each puppy goes home with: • Health records from Dr. Sneider • Age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming • Early socialization and handling • A comprehensive veterinary wellness examination • A puppy starter kit to help ease the transition to their new home. I am Gabriel Ben-Yosef, a small, home-based breeder of AKC Labrador Retrievers. I personally care for every litter from birth until the puppies go home, and my focus is on raising healthy, well-socialized dogs that make wonderful family companions. To date, I have personally raised one litter from my foundation female, Lucy, who had eight puppies. The experience reinforced my commitment to raising puppies carefully and responsibly in a home environment where they receive daily interaction, handling, and early socialization. Because this is a small, family-based program, I typically plan for only one litter at a time and generally expect to breed one litter per year. For 2026, Lucy’s planned litter will likely be the only litter I produce. I prefer to keep things small so that each puppy receives plenty of attention and early developmental care during the crucial first eight weeks of life. My goal is always to prioritize the long-term health and well-being of the mother dogs. Assuming good health, each female will typically have a limited number of litters — generally two or three — before retiring from breeding and remaining a beloved member of the family. I believe strongly that breeding dogs should live full, happy lives as companions first and foremost. All of my dogs receive regular veterinary care, routine vaccinations, and ongoing health monitoring. Puppies are raised with careful attention to cleanliness, nutrition, and early development. They are examined by a veterinarian before going to their new homes and receive appropriate early vaccinations according to veterinary guidelines. When puppies go home, I recommend keeping their diet consistent for the first few weeks to avoid digestive upset. A high-quality puppy food is important during this rapid growth stage. Many families use reputable brands of kibble, which can certainly work well, though I’m always happy to discuss other high-quality puppy diets if owners prefer. What matters most is a nutritionally complete puppy formula and consistency during the transition period. Training is something I strongly encourage for all new puppy owners. Early puppy classes help establish good habits and strengthen the bond between dog and family. Basic obedience — commands such as sit, stay, and recall — is more than enough for most families, and structured classes are extremely helpful, especially for first- or second-time owners. I’m always happy to recommend reputable local trainers or puppy kindergarten programs that focus on positive reinforcement methods. When it comes to choosing a puppy, I work collaboratively with families to help make the best match. I spend many weeks observing the puppies’ personalities, energy levels, and temperaments, which helps me guide families toward the puppy that is most likely to thrive in their particular household. While families certainly have input, I generally help direct the final match so that each puppy ends up in the environment best suited to its temperament. All puppies are placed with a written contract that outlines the responsibilities of both the breeder and the new owner. The contract covers health guarantees, care expectations, and my ongoing commitment to the lifetime well-being of the dog.

Q. & A. with Gabriel

  • Why did you start breeding?

My devotion to raising healthy, happy dogs has always been a driving force in my life. My Labradors’ wonderful temperament and boundless energy inspired me to share those qualities with others. I prioritize her health and well-being, and when the time felt right, I made the decision to breed her responsibly. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m committed to finding the best homes for her puppies, ensuring they will be cherished and well cared for.
  • What makes your program special?

What sets my breeding program apart is its foundation in love, health, and attentive care. This isn’t a large-scale operation; instead, my focus is on ensuring that my Labrador and her puppies are nurtured in a happy, healthy environment. Each puppy is treated as a cherished member of the family, and I am committed to finding them homes where they will thrive just as much as they have here.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Parent health testing

NorwellLabs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
