Breeder of Bernedoodles and Goldendoodles

Meet the breeder

I'm Susan R., the breeder behind NW Doodles located in Portland, OR. Our high-quality puppies are the result of extensive research and thorough care for our outstanding dogs and puppies. Our breeding program started with one small litter that turned into a fulfilling, lifelong passion! We believe there’s no greater joy than providing families with companions that share unconditional love no matter what.

Q. & A. with Susan

  • Why did you start breeding?

At the time I started I was one of the 1st who wanted to breed Goldendoodle to Goldendoodle and none of the local breeders would support that effort so I purchased my initial dogs Ginger and Angel in Ohio and Crash in S. Carolina a year later.
  • What makes your program special?

The puppies have an incredibly good life here. We have a terrific property for what I do. I also am very careful to create as much genetic variation as possible. No inbreeding. And from the beginning I had great dogs. So I saved my own females and purchased new males so at least I knew one half of the equation.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies are standard size. Goldendoodle puppies include miniature, medium, and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies are black and white. Goldendoodle puppies include cream, apricot, red, and parti. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Susan

Susan has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 deposit and between $1,100 - $1,200 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“That is the total price including the puppy application fee and puppy deposit. The puppies have a 2 year health guarantee and shots are given by the vet at 8 weeks before they go home. All parents are CKC registered. So technically my deposit has been non-refundable but I have always refunded it. If you can't manage a puppy or this puppy isn't the "right" fit for you I certainly don't want you to keep it.”

Contract & health guarantee

Susan may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Susan offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Susan directly.

Susan was great keeping in touch about the puppy. The information she gave me was so valuable. Due to a minor case of kennel cough, we had to delay transitioning Ollie to his new home. Susan kept me posted on how head doing and when the time came, she met with me 1/2 way between our locations. Ollie is a sweet, energetic and adorable pup. Such a wonderful addition to the family. I highly recommend working with Susan if you are looking for a great pup.

We consider ourselves lucky to have discovered Susan at NW Doodle in Oregon - she is a truly exceptional breeder. From the beginning, we were impressed by her expertise and knowledge, as demonstrated by the detailed family tree, genetic testing, and weekly updates she provided us leading up to our puppy's arrival. Our puppy, Obi, has completely stolen our hearts. He has an excellent temperament and can be both calm and energetic, depending on the situation. He seems to have a knack for reading people's emotions and energy levels and genuinely believes he's human! Not only that, but he's incredibly intelligent and learns commands quickly. Overall, he's the perfect puppy, and we feel incredibly lucky to have him in our lives. Susan is only a phone or text away! Every year she hosts a doodle family reunion that we can’t wait to attend.
