I'm Shona O., the breeder behind Oak Hollar Farm located in Statesville, NC. Oak Hollar's resident Border Collies vary in size, coat length and colour, most important to us is our dogs ability to calm and confidently work stock then be able to greet strangers and children at the many herding demos we attend.I pride myself on raising BC's with solid minds and physical longevity.
Q. & A. with Shona
Why did you start breeding?
Breeding comes in when you have a dog that really just suits you and there is a desire to duplicate that. The main reason we do not breed more often is simply that the number of Border Collies in need of a home is always high,we choose to acknowledge that producing litter after litter in no way helps those dogs therefore we choose to be quite selective and responsible in our breeding practices.
What makes your program special?
We strive to maintain the breeds original purpose and in doing so continue the long standing traditions that began with this breed and in doing so have found no need to breed for excess speed, coat length or colour.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Pepper
Pepper is a small in stature, blue merle Border Collie with bi coloured eyes. Although Pep lives on a farm with sheep she is quite content to limit her herding to the ducks and chickens. Although Border Collies are known for their constant need of a job and activity, Pepper is a much less demanding, less high drive type of girl. She is clever and quick to listen with a willingness to please.
