I'm Karen L., the breeder behind Ocotilla Goldens located in Colorado Springs, CO. I breed all my dogs with consideration to health first, followed closely by temperament and conformation standard. I do all clearances plus extra DNA testing to assure a healthy dog before breeding. I breed all dogs for pet, conformation, performance, service, or therapy. I show and work with every dog I own.
Q. & A. with Karen
Why did you start breeding?
I have been breeding for many years. I am a preservationist breeder striving to maintain and improve upon the unique qualities that the Chesapeake Bay Retriever and the Golden Retriever have to offer. It is my passion to breed these incredible dogs and help ensure the future of the breeds for generations to come.
What makes your program special?
I pride myself on helping all of my clients find the right fit for their needs and lifestyle. I do not breed my dogs unless they are fully healthy and genetically tested. I am dedicated to always having responsible policies when it comes to breeding, socializing, and training my pups. My dogs work hard, play hard, love hard, and are part of the family. I prepare all of my pups to excel in life.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
