Meet the breeder

I'm Tabatha D., the breeder behind Old Oak Cardigans located in Clio, MI. Our dogs are bred for health, temperament and conformation. We are dedicated to providing families with a loving, healthy, well-balanced furry family member. Our pack is an intricate part of our family, and daily life. Where we go, they go! Camping, swimming, hiking, you name it, they go!

Q. & A. with Tabatha

  • Why did you start breeding?

While looking for a new family dog, I "fell" into the Cardigan Corgi. Our kids wanted one of the "cute butt" dogs so I began researching, and quickly realized that the Cardi was much more suited to our very active lifestyle. Growing up my family bred/raised Old English Sheepdogs, so my heart has always been with the herding/working breeds.
  • What makes your program special?

We breed out of love and respect for this ancient breed. We only have a couple of litters a year so we are able to pour our love, sweat and time into each litter to produce amazing family pets as well as herding dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include brindle merle and white, blue merle and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Old Oak was always responsive and caring. The fact that she made sure I had experience with the energy, intelligence, and drive of a corgi helped me to trust her as someone who cares about the breed. The level of confidence already instilled in the puppy at such a young age spoke volumes for all the love and care Old Oak provides.

Our experience with Tabatha of Old Oak Cardigans could not have been more ideal. She was always incredibly responsive and communicative. She clearly knows what she's doing and loves her dogs. She made an effort to work with us and went the extra mile by occasionally sharing photos of our puppy before the pick-up date. And meeting her and her husband was so lovely and stress-free I wish I could have stayed longer just to talk some more. It's hard to imagine any way that buying a puppy from a breeder could be improved upon.
